How To Treat Hemorrhoids Easily

Hemorrhoids are painful and itch and seem to go on forever when you have them. It’s difficult to sit, and at times even sleep. But there are many ways that you can treat these hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids that are affecting your quality of life is something that you will need to discuss with your doctor to explore your options for how to treat hemorrhoids.

One procedure that a doctor can perform on an outpatient basis is rubber band ligation. A band is placed around the external hemorrhoid. This acts to cut off the blood supply to hemorrhoid and causes it to shrivel up and eventually fall off on its own. Once the hemorrhoid detaches however, you will need to keep watch to prevent the issues that led to the hemorrhoids in the first place.

Two ways that a hemorrhoid can be physically removed is through hemorrhoidolysis and sclerotherapy. In hemorrhoidolysis, the hemorrhoid is zapped with an electrical current and in sclerotherapy, a substance is injected into the hemorrhoid that causes it to harden and die.

A rarely used therapy is cryosurgery, where the hemorrhoid will be frozen off; this was found to have too many side effects. It may be used but on very limited terms. Lasers may be used to remove the infected area, but it has become less popular through the years with other options becoming available that help out more.

Two other procedures but much more invasive are the hemorrhoidectomy. These are where a surgery is done and the hemorrhoids are removed completely. It has been shown to cause problems with incontinence though in later life. In a stapled hemorrhoidectomy, soft tissue will be resected to a dentate line and the blood flow of hemorrhoids is hindered. These are both used for tough internal cases of hemorrhoids and are a lot less painful to recover from and fewer problems later for patients.

Though some of these procedures sound a bit difficult to recover from, they really aren’t that bad. In most cases your doctor will use the surgery or treatment that will be easiest on your body. The easier procedures to recover from are of course the least invasive ones. If you have any questions or concerns don’t be afraid to ask the doctor before you undergo one of these options.

For individuals who prefer more natural methods, how to treat hemorrhoids is really a matter of diet and exercise.
