Prepackaged Diets Are Definitely Not Going to Work

We have seen lots of pre-packaged diets such as Nutrisystem, Atkins and Jenny Craig that have made their mark on the weight loss industry. They are everywhere on the tv and the newspapers and epically on the internet.

The claims are ridiculous - lose 40 lbs in a week by eating pizza or other various pronouncements whereby you lose weight by sitting around. We all know these claims are impossible, but some folks can’t help themselves.

It takes something close to starvation or diet that has no nutritional value to strip down weight that quickly. And you know what? Part of that weight could be muscle. The body can indeed take protein out of your body.

Pre-packaged diets can end up taking advantage of you in a variety of different ways. For example, Nutrisystem advertises a great average price per meal. Nevertheless, it’s basically eating out day after day after day, and we all know how much money that ends up taking.

The cost per meal as advertised by Nutrisystem is around $3. For the women’s program, this increases to $7 per day or over $200 a month. And that’s for the base price which they can increase without notice.

These programs also charge periodically from your credit card so if you forget to cancel, it may be costly. Take notice of the claims on the ads and especially the small print. the big weight loss claims are for the entire program. Read the small print - they will have a disclaimer “Results not Typical”!

Beware of these near impossible claims as they are mostly untrue or giving you examples of extreme cases that are not in the least typical. Yes, some have lost 40 pounds but it is more likely that you will lose less than a quarter of that. They do not make any promises of significant weight loss. When the programme does not work, they will blame you for not sticking with the rules.

At this rate, for 40 pounds weight loss you’ll pay $800. This is not good for your finances. These deals must be carefully thought out before you commit, but generally they are all hype and bluster that will get you into debt. Most people who buy those products will either fail or have a lot of cash to spend. You cannot guarantee that you will be one of the few who will benefit from these programs.
